Protonou VPN is built by an independent team of engineers, ex-network operators and privacy advocates. We fund the company through subscriptions — never through ads, data resale or venture pressure.
The project started in 2021 as a weekend prototype after one of us watched airport Wi-Fi inject trackers into every HTTP page. Five years later, that prototype has grown into a global VPN network serving individuals, families and small teams in more than 140 countries.
A VPN vendor holds a lot of trust. We keep ours by writing every client as open source, running RAM-only servers, publishing a yearly transparency report and letting external auditors publish whatever they find.
Every dollar we earn comes from subscribers. That means no advertisers to please, no data brokers to feed and no board pressure to compromise on privacy for growth.
